13th International Conference of the Structure of Non-Crystaline Materials

Following the previous very successful edition of the conference, held in Riva del Garda, Italy, the 13th International Conference on the Structure of Non-Crystalline Materials (NCM13) will be held July 24–29, 2016, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

The NCM Conference is devoted to investigation of the structure and dynamics of non-crystalline materials. Main subjects of the Conference will include, but are not limited, to the following:

Structural modeling and theoretical aspects of glasses and melts
Short- and medium-range order in glasses and melts (spectroscopy, diffraction, new experimental structural approaches)
Nucleation and crystallization processes
Nano-crystalline materials
Sol-gels and heterogeneous systems
Nanostructural and microstructural features
Structural properties of glass surfaces
Structural evolution under forcing conditions: high pressure, irradiation, photo-structural changes, polyamorphism and reversibility windows; glass to melt transformations
Structure/property relationships
Dynamical properties
Relaxation phenomena

Inorganic glasses such as oxides, chalcogenides, oxynitride glasses and melts
Metallic glasses
Geological glasses, polymer glasses , bioglasses
New glass-forming systems
Amorphous systems, quasicrystals and others
Nanostructures in glasses and crystals

Experimental and numerical methods
Scattering methods (x-ray, neutron, light)
Solid-state spectroscopic methods (x-ray absorption spectroscopy, NMR, vibrational spectroscopy methods, ion scattering spectroscopy, and others)
Experiments at extreme conditions (new possibilites using Large Scale Facilities)
Influence of materials preparation (thermal history, crystal amorphization, etc.)
Microscopy (electron, near-field, surface investigations and so forth)
Modeling including structural modeling, atomistic modeling, and ab initio approches.
